History

Nearly 160 years ago, Fr. Edward Sorin C.S.C. articulated a vision for the University of Notre Dame du Lac, that "this college will be one of the most powerful means of doing good in the country." From its humble beginnings as an educational institution catering to local area orphans, Notre Dame has emerged as a preeminent global academic institution which remains unparalleled in its commitment to serving others.

In an effort to perpetuate this legacy in some small way, we have created the Fellow Irish Social Hub (FISH). This independent, non-profit organization hopes to build on the successes of our ancestors and to contribute to the strong heritage of social entrepreneurship at Notre Dame by connecting students, faculty, alumni and community members to leverage our extraordinary resources and affect even greater impact on the world.
